More About Alpacas
Alpacas are very gentle and
intelligent animals. They have no upper teeth,
so they do not bite. Their padded feet are like soft leather, so it
doesn't hurt if an alpaca steps on a person's foot. The alpacas at
Paca Peace Ranch are especially chosen to be extra gentle in their
disposition.
These intelligent animals can learn by "clicker training" and a method
called "TTEAM training." Both methods help an animal understand and
do what is expected without using force.
Alpacas are good for the environment as their soft feet tend not to crush
plants.
Alpacas communicate with a soft humming sound. It is very peaceful
to be in a group of humming alpacas.
A person must touch an alpaca to believe how wonderful its fleece
feels (kind of like an angora rabbit).
